Teens Count Too Society (The) on Our Okanagan:

Teenagers are the overlooked sector. Those from marginalized families between 13 and 18 fall between the cracks. They benefit indirectly from social assistance given to families, but at special occasions such as Christmas and Graduation, there are very few helping hands. The Teens Count Too Society began 25-years ago as an initiative of CICF Radio (Sun FM). We are a registered non-profit charitable society, with a mandate to raise funds for the expressed purpose of:

  • Buying gifts (clothing and toiletries) for needy teens at Christmas.
  • Assisting marginalized teens at Graduation (The Cinderella Project).
  • Providing bursaries for needy teens for post-secondary education.
  • Teens Count Too has also assisted Teen Junction and students in the Open Learning program.

Our charity enjoys the support of a long list of community organizations and businesses. The volunteers that shop for Christmas gifts receive outstanding discounts from major retailers, such as Wal-Mart.  Every year, groups and businesses ask us how they can help.  Our on-air appeal generates an amazing response from the Sun FM audience, with gifts of cash, in-kind support as well as dresses for The Cinderella Project.

We are forever grateful for the support we receive… and yet we can always benefit from more.

All donors of cash receive a tax receipt.  We do our best to afford on-air recognition for in-kind donors that respects and acknowledges their contribution.
