What We Offer

NONA Autism Services Program

This program provides children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder with goal-oriented programs according to the child’s age and funding level. Services are available to children who are eligible for provincial Autism Funding. For more information contact us at 250 549-1281.

NONA Family Support Program

This program provides services to families of children/youth with special needs, birth to 18. These services include information, support, advocacy, one to one consultation, counselling and networking opportunities. For more information, contact us at 250 549-1281.

NONA FASD Key Worker & Parent Support Program

These programs assist families in understanding FASD by providing education, support and information specific to the needs of the child and family. For more information, contact us at 250 549-1281

NONA Infant Development Program

This program provides home-based services to families of infants, birth to 3 who are at risk for developmental delay or who have a diagnosed disability. For more information contact 250 549-1281.

NONA Supported Child Development Program

This program provides services to children with developmental concerns, aged birth to 12, who require extra support in a community child care setting chosen by their family. Settings include group daycares, preschools, family daycares, in-home care and out-of-school-care. For more information contact 250 549-1281.

NONA Therapy Programs

Speech-Language Therapy: This service provides assessment, treatment and consultation for communication, feeding and hearing delays in children, five years and under. This program shares a waitlist with the Health Unit and a copy of each referral is forwarded to the Health Unit for recordkeeping purposes. For more information, contact us at 250 549-1281.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy: These services assists children who have difficulty with such skills as moving, using their hands, eating, dressing and toileting. We help children to improve their strength, balance, coordination and endurance. We also provide strategies to support parents of children who have trouble settling themselves, are overly active and have difficulty with focusing their attention. Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist

North Okanagan Neurological Association (NONA) Child Development Centre, Vernon Come play with the NONA team! We are looking for a 0.8 FTE Speech-Language Pathologist to begin May 1, 2014. This staff member works under the direction of the Therapy Program Supervisor and as part of a multidisciplinary team serving preschool-aged children with special needs. The position is intended to fill a maternity leave for one year from May 2014 – April 2015. A Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and eligibility for certification/registration with CASLPA and CSHHPBC is required. Pediatric experience is an asset. Salary and benefits are competitive as per the HSPBA Paramedical Professional Collective Agreement. Vernon is located at the north end of the sunny Okanagan valley. Support Worker

NONA Child Development Centre accepts resumes for part time temporary support workers to work with children requiring extra support in child care settings. Qualifications include knowledge of child development, experience or education in ECE, experience with children who have special needs, and first aid. Resumes will be forwarded to prospective child care settings. NONA Child Development Centre is NOT be the employer.

Behaviour Interventionist

To work with preschool and school age children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. To assist the child to learn and complete activities by following the individual plan as determined and directed by a multidisciplinary team. Minimum qualifications for this position are a high school diploma plus experience working with children. (Experience with children with ASD and related disorders would be preferred.) This position requires travel within Vernon and district. All candidates must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle. We have informational meetings for potential Behaviour Interventionists on several times a year.
