What We Offer

Bees Search for Meaning

I recently published a book called “Bee’s Search for Meaning.”  It is subtitled “There’s got to Bee more to it.”  It is the story of a young bee and his search for meaning in his life.

As I am a Spiritual Coach and Registered Professional Counsellor,  this book is an inspirational and motivational short story, based on my life story of personal growth, but told in a humorous saga as the life of a bee, playing with the word Bee. While it may look like a child’s book by the cover and with some illustrations, it is intended for adult audiences.

Some things others say:

"I love it.... Why? Beecause!"  - R. Weston

“A delightful light hearted read with a deep personal message. To bee or not to bee is no longer a question – M. Taylor

It is available online  at http://BeesSearchForMeaning.com as well as locally in several stores such as Mosaic Books in Kelowna.

Defining Your Potential

Defining Your Potential.

Merv Flahr, RPCc, RScP

What do I believe? Sometimes a simple self-reflection of circumstances or a path can reinforce your values or afford you the insight into your otherwise healthy choices. Other times it takes the participation in a group of people all gathering for self-discovery to look at the core value of what makes you tick. The essence of this is the one core belief each person has that they really live by.  Now through an inspiring voyage it is entirely possible to look at your foundation to understand what makes your life work the way it does.

Merv Flahr, RPCc, RScP, has actively studied 5 years to become Registered Professional Counsellor, a Licensed Spiritual Coach and Life Coach.  Through a long process that has taken him from the heartland of Saskatchewan then on to a lucrative career in space engineering which he gave up pursue this bold career in counselling. The trials and tribulations along the way made for a number of times when he paused to reflect on the elemental factors that contribute to success and the infinite potential that he believes exists in all of us. Having personally experienced tragedy and many degrees of success, he is well equipped to not only provide professional services but to continue to inspire wherever possible.

A member of the Canadian Professional Counsellor’s Association and the Okanagan Healing Arts Association, Mr. Flahr has worked tirelessly to bring a new workshop series to the Okanagan.

This series leans heavily on working with people to consider their behaviour by challenging their own belief system.  With his combination of education and experience he will guide participants to evaluate the personal belief with the intention of narrowing a possible list down to that one single idea that has the largest impact your life. To complete the transition the participant will write a short essay, such as the past participants, in order to bring this belief to the surface.

“Ultimately it is not about somebody else’s belief, not about religion or politics; it is about what you believe about yourself.” says Flahr.  “ Granted that belief may be derived from a religious belief, as taught by many of the religious establishments or cemented in misfortune, but the intent is for the person to discover what they truly believe, which is based on either the sum total of their experience in life, or comes naturally from your intuition. It is not intended to be a lecture, advertisement nor religious statement. It’s about discovering more of the things that make you work the way you do.”

Over the past 60 years a very prestige list of names have turned their attention in part to defining the ways they achieved success or in some cases changed history. This Kelowna counsellor is bringing these concepts to light in a powerful  six-week series based on the best seller: This I Believe: the Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women. Contributions by famous names like Bill Gates, Colin Powell and Deepak Chopra define the approach to this workshop. Essays by each outline the thoughts and philosophies that helped them in creating their success. The essence is found more in the stories shared by ordinarily extraordinary every day people who have found a new perspective through this process while inspiring others.

His new book, “Bees Search for Meaning”, is due for release next month and is based on self discovery of personal beliefs and the changes in a person’s life that happen when they evaluate their personal belief system. It is based on his own life and self-discovery.

It seems we never tire of looking at our lives in an attempt to define those things that keep us from reaching the heights in life we think we deserve.  Sometimes the circumstances or tragedies we experience make cause for a reflection on our feelings or the ways we function. It’s always nice to know that there are those who are taking the time to create better ways for us adults to learn and grow.
