Workplace Efficiency and Baseline Assessments
The first step to any successful sustainability strategy is establishing a baseline from which to measure the results and ROI of future initiatives. Used as stand-alone information, or integrated with a comprehensive strategy, a workplace efficiency assessment in any of the areas below will provide objective data to help your business understand the opportunities for costs savings and improved sustainability.
Once the assessment is complete, GreenStep will deliver a report that provides a summary of results, presentation of raw data with equivalent impacts such as trees cut, toxins released, tonnes of GHG’s emitted, etc, and recommendations for actions that will deliver results and payback.
Energy Audit – GreenStep can provide a basic walk-through energy assessment or a more detailed assessment by a certified energy auditor or engineer, to help you identify the low-hanging fruit and advanced areas to target for energy efficiency and cost savings.
There are currently a variety of government and utility funding opportunities for business of all sizes to undertake small and large renewable energy and energy efficiency upgrades. GreenStep has extensive experience in successfully applying for government grants and programs, and works with the top contractors in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields.
Waste Audit – A waste assessment will allow us to make recommendations on how much recyclable and compostable material can be removed from the trash stream and diverted from the landfill to save you money on material inputs and waste hauling costs.
Water Audit – A walk-through water assessment will allow GreenStep to recommend small and large steps your company can take to improve water efficiency and reduce the cost of water and sewer bills.
Transportation - GreenStep will assess fuel consumption and vehicle types to make recommendations for corporate fuel savings as well as commuter options and programs to help save money and reduce the carbon footprint of your business.
Purchasing – An assessment of your company’s purchasing habits will help us recommend an appropriate sustainable purchasing policy, working with your team, suppliers and other stakeholders to reduce the environmental and social impact of the goods and services your business purchases, within budget.
Human Assessment – How do your employees and customers feel your business is doing with regards to sustainability or environmental and social responsiblity? This is an important metric to understand as you move forward. Improved employee retention and productivty, and increased customer loyalty and market share that result from sustainability initiatives are all important indictators of ROI and should be measured.
